Sedef Yucad is the founder and director of the HorizonIstanbul Counseling and Coaching center and leads the counseling and education teams.

She has earned her college-counseling certificate from Harvard University’s Summer Institute, which she attended in 1998. Through the conferences and workshops she continues to attend as a member of professional institutions such as OACAC, CISand ECIS, she has continued to keep abreast of the developments in international education.

Sedef Yucad has completed her primary and secondary education in Europe and graduated from Marymount High School in Paris. After majoring in English Language and Literature in Bogazici University in Istanbul, she earned her MA degree from the same university in the field of Linguistics. During the same years she completed the Teaching Certificate program at Bogazici University and completed a research project on comparative methods of teaching in Istanbul high schools.

She began her professional career in the field of education and continues in the same field today. Her experiences include teaching English at the American Cultural Center, heading the English department at YWCA andfree lance tutoring to all age groups ranging from pre-school to university. Her final position was teaching English at Istanbul University to students in the pre-masters programs.

Family, empathy, reliability and creativity are important principles for Sedef Yucad who has created a warm family atmosphere at HorizonIstanbul, which continues to expand its services to include a variety ranging from education, and counseling to art, kids and career placement. Each new member of the HorizonIstanbul team is also a family member or rapidly becomes one and works with the same dedication. The mission of the counseling team she directs has adopted her principle, which she repeats often: “the crucial elements in counseling are facts and sharing them effectively”
